Drilling of the first exploration well started in «Khazar» in the «Pearls»

On August 24, 2007 drilling of the first exploration well started in «Khazar» in the «Pearls» contract area, located in Kazakhstan Sector of the Caspian Sea. Drilling is conducted by means of «Astra» jack-up.

On commencement of new social project – the construction of kindergarten for 120 places in kuryk village, mangistau oblast

On August 3, 2007 the foundation stone laying ceremony for the construction of new kindergarten providing places for 120 children was held in Kuryk village in Mangistau oblast. This project implementation became possible in the result of the decision made by partners of «Atash», «Tyub-Karagan», «Kurmangazy» and «The Pearls» projects regarding joint financing of the above construction. Consolidation of funds available for social obligations related to the mentioned projects will provide sufficient resources to finance more significant and large-scale facilities in Mangistau oblast.

Public hearings on environment impact assessment in the course of offshore oil operations in “the pearls”

In December 2005 Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) on “The Pearls” was signed between the partners “Shell EP Offshore Ventures Limited, Kazakhstan” (55%), “KazMunayGaz” (25%) and Oman Pearls Company (20%). “The Pearls” covering the area of 895 sq.m. is located in the north part of the Caspian Sea. Pursuant to the RSA the minimum working program includes analysis of environment impact assessment, drilling of two exploration wells and performance of the associated investigations.
