Manpower Training for Offshore Operations

Given the large-scale offshore oil and gas operations planned in the near future in accordance with the State Program on Development of Kazakhstan Sector of the Caspian Sea and the lack of highly skilled Petroleum Engineers in the country, in 2006, OOC “KazMunayTeniz” JSC (hereinafter — the Company) initiated a program of advanced training of young professionals The Program included implementation of complex measures on training of Kazakhstani personnel for offshore oil operations in 2006–2010, including in staff of foreign oil companies and contractors.

To this end, the Company during 5 consecutive years has been selecting best graduates and young engineers and sending them to the leading international oil and engineering companies for long-term (1 to 4 years) education and training.

In training matters the Company cooperated with international oil and gas and service companies such as Shell, ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Eni, KBR, Total, Keppel, Worley Parsons, Aker Solutions, BUE, Baker Hughes and others.

As a result of the first phase of recruitment (2006–2010) 33 young employees of the Company has already received training and instruction in special programs in the offices and production facilities of partner companies, including:

  • employed in the system of NC “KMG” JSC — 24, namely:
    • in KMG “Kashagan BV” Agent Company — 11;
    • in OOC “KAzMunaiTeniz” JSC — 5;
    • In “Meruerty BV  Caspian Operating Company” — 7;
    • In “N Operating Company” — 1;
  • employed by international companies — “Aker Solutions”, “KBR” — 6.
